A week after winning the final regular season home game against Ohio State, Head Coach Brady Hoke wasn’t out enjoying the time off. Oh no, he wasn’t lounging in his recliner watching television or going shopping. He was attending classes on campus, some of which his athletes attend.

He attended a class that was in the Department of Afro-American and African Studies. The lecture, he said, was based around the impact of British marching music in the Caribbean. Freshman defensive end Chris Rock tweeted that Hoke was attending the class with him. “Coach Hoke is around campus sitting in our classes #coachoftheyear for many years to come.”

Hoke said, “I think that’s part of the obligation we make to the guys we recruit—about the education and supporting them and being there.” Hoke was of course talking about how education is first and athletics is second. “It was pretty neat, to be honest with ya. I took notes,” said Hoke.

Hearing that Hoke is attending classes only proves that he is a dedicated coach not only on the field but off the field too. Hoke and the Wolverines will be taking on Virginia Tech in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Tuesday, January 3 in New Orleans.
