BY SAMANTHA ELLIOTT, Editor-in-Chief

Lyceum presented an event titled “Lyceum presents Aaron Harris,” at 6:30 p.m. in Kochoff hall.

UM-Dearborn professor Liz Rohan arranged for Harris to speak to her young adult fiction class, and Lyceum co-sponsored on March 12.

Harris was born in Detroit and started out as a gospel musical before beginning his writing career. He earned his Bachelors of General Studies degree in English, History, and Communications at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Harris spoke to the group and discussed his work, his writing process, and about publishing in general, among other topics.

Lyceum will host their annual “Publish Your Passion” event from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on March 20 in Kochoff Hall A. Authors Steve Dolgin, John Perry, and Detroit publisher Black Coffee Press will all be in attendance.

Each will be speaking to students on the publishing process and will inform students how they can get published outside of Lyceum. According to Lyceum Editor in Chief, Emma Slonina, this is the fourth annual Publish Your Passion after being started by former Editor in Chief, Stephanie Portelli in 2009.

“It’s our most popular event every year and we’re really looking forward to it,” said Slonina.

The event will offer books for sale as well as refreshments.
