Unclear if Justice Department will press charges against author.

Former Navy Seal Matt Bissonnette, who took the pseudonym “Mark Owen” to co-author the book “No Easy Day,” recently released a statement saying he will not accept proceeds or donations related to the book.

“No Easy Day” reveals top-secret information regarding the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader who organized the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City 11 years ago today. Owen has commented that the book is about 9/11 and not politics.

It is possible, but still unclear, whether or not the Justice Department will press charges against Owen for writing the book and revealing classified information. In his book, Bissonnette describes the mission graphically and in great detail, which has been the subject of much controversy.

No Easy Day, which was released this past Tuesday, is currently No. 1 in Amazon.com book sales. Bissonnette appeared on CBS’ nighttime news show “60 Minutes” on Sunday to discuss the book.
