Fall around the corner
For fashionistass everywhere, fall means boots, scarves, sweaters, and so much more.

Fall is right around the corner and that means apple cider, donuts, pumpkin patches, and leaves that will turn that oh so beautiful shade of orange and red to remind us that winter is coming!
But more importantly, for fashionistass everywhere, it means boots, scarves, sweaters, jackets, cute hats and so much more. If you’re anything like me, fall fashion is your favorite part of the year. It means layering and layering means fun. So don’t stuff your summer wardrobe in the basement just yet because now is the best time to mix and match all those wonderful pieces in your closet.
I used to think that every time I purchased a cute pair of shorts in the summer that I would only be able to utilize them in the minimal amount of nice weather we have here in Michigan. I would buy them now but who knew if they would be in style next summer. Right? Wrong! I don’t know if people have been watching too many episodes of “Saved By The Bell,” but all bottoms seem to be high-waisted as of lately and I love it! High-waisted shorts are fabulous and it’s even better that colored denim is in right now.
You can purchase a wide variety of different colored denim shorts in the summer and when it gets a little chilly, pair them up with lace tights, tribal tights, colored tights or even solid black. Now, I’ve always been a little bit of a funky dresser so I love slipping on a pair of combat boots, a cute scarf or belt and topping off my outfit with a blazer or a comfy sweater. It’s a great way of staying stylish and being comfortable.
Fall is also the time of year where I whip out my weapons against Mother Nature. Rain boots are the reason I am able to get out of bed when I have class early in the morning and it’s pouring outside. They are the reason I don’t have soggy socks. They are the reason I do a rain dance in my backyard praying for a storm to come and most importantly, they are the reason why I still look fab even if my hair doesn’t. Two years ago, I purchased a pair of Hunter rain boots from Nordstrom and they are the best investment in shoes I have ever made. You better believe that I will be bringing them out this fall for the third year in a row. The great thing about Hunter rain boots is that you can buy insert-able socks that roll over the top of your boots like a cuff and they come in a variety of styles. Although some of you may not be looking to spend a little over $100 on rain boots, they are a great investment because they last forever. Along with Hunter, Sperry Top-Sider, Henri Bendel, Target, Steve Madden and Michael Kors all carry rain boots within a decent price range.
Lets not forget the fall essentials. Scarves, leather jackets, and leggings. Here’s a tip. You see a scarf at any store for a good price and you like it? Buy it. Chances are you are going to utilize it at the most random of times and in the best of ways. Recently, animal print scarves have been popular and they look great when wearing simple, solid color outfits.
Leather jackets seem to be a fall trend that never dies. Somehow, there is something so absolutely sexy about leather that people cannot let go of. Maybe it’s the biker-chick appeal, but I think we can all agree that leather jackets are hot! They are not too heavy and not too light so they are perfect for this type of weather. Can’t afford a real one? No biggie!
With faux leather, you can get the same look for much cheaper. Leggings are utilized year round but the reason I love them the most in the fall is because they are so comfortable and look great tucked into a pair of boots. I usually throw over a baggy sweater, zip up some riding boots and voila! I’m ready to seize the day.
Even though the calendar says that the change of season is not until Saturday, I suggest you gather around your autumn essentials and “fall” in love with fashion.
