The Student Organization Advisory Council, or SOAC, was granted an increase to their 2012-2013 fiscal year budget of $6,000 to further assist student organizations in accomplishing their goals.

The maximum limit for co-sponsoring events has been increased to $3,000; the maximum limit for programming, $2,000; and the maximum limit for travel, $1,000. For both programming and travel limits, this is an increase of $500.

“I am excited to announce that the SOAC’s budget has increased this year,” said Fareed Shalhout, the Director of Clubs and Organizations (DCO) in Student Government. “It will help student organizations with travel and programming costs. I am looking forward to seeing the variety of events that will be held on and off-campus.”

The Student Organization Advisory Council is a diverse body of students that assist new or aspiring organizations in becoming recognized by the university, as well as with hosting events and traveling.
