It’s homecoming week for the University of Michigan, and Michigan will face the Illinois Fighting Illini to cap off the week. Back into the Top 25, the Wolverines are looking to jump up in the rankings this week against a 2-4 Illini team that is currently, 0-2 in the B1G 10.

Denard Robinson and the Wolverines are coming off of a blowout win against the Purdue Boilermakers last week, on the road, that catapulted them into the Top 25. Robinson led the way last week, running for 235 yards and in the process, became the B1G 10’s all-time leading rushing quarterback.

Prediction: Michigan 49, Illinois 17

The Illini are in their first season under first year coach Tim Beckmann, and aren’t looking very good. Their only two wins this season came against Western Michigan and Charleston Southern, which doesn’t say much about the program. The four losses came against Arizona State, Louisiana Tech, Penn State, and Wisconsin. All of their losses were blowouts and are having trouble scoring points.

Junior quarterback, Nate Scheelhaase leads the Illini with 659 yards of total offense, three touchdowns and 65 completions on 104 attempts during the season. Robinson has 62 completions on 115 attempts, but 942 yards of offense and seven touchdowns.

Michigan is favored to beat the Illini by over two touchdowns. For homecoming, this should be a celebration all evening long.

Surprisingly, the Illini are a better passing yards team than the Wolverines, but that could change when both teams take the field in Ann Arbor on Saturday, as Michigan averages nearly 400 yards of offense a game, and 31 points per game.

Michigan should be able to handle Illinois pretty easily, probably more than Purdue last week. Don’t be surprised to see the Wolverines up by more than a couple of touchdowns at halftime, and the student section beginning to scatter.

The Wolverines will use this game as yet another reason why they should be picked for the Rose Bowl in January.
