Coming off of a huge win against the Michigan State Spartans last week, the Michigan Wolverines are traveling to Lincoln for the first time since 1911.

This is a key matchup for both teams, as it is a Legends Division matchup and the winner of this game, could go on to compete in the B1G 10 Championship in Indianapolis in December.

It’s expected to be a high-scoring game, as the Cornhuskers average 41.6 points per game, but allow 27.7 points per game. The Wolverines on the other hand, average 30.7 points per game, while only allowing 16.4 points per game.

Prediction: Michigan 24, Nebraska 17

The Michigan defense has been better with each game that goes on. They aren’t up to the standards that win a B1G 10 Championship according to head coach Brady Hoke, captain Jordan Kovacs among many of the other players, if not the whole team.

This game could make or break the Wolverines season. The Cornhuskers are a much better team than they were last year, as they came to Ann Arbor in late November and were destroyed, right before their very eyes.

This year is quite different. Nebraska is 5-2 this year, with most of their wins against easier teams. Taylor Martinez, junior quarterback led the Cornhuskers to wins over Southern Mississippi, Arkansas State, Idaho State, Wisconsin, and Northwestern.

The easier wins came against the first three teams, while the other wins, came against some decent B1G 10 teams, with Northwestern the best of the two.

Handing the Wolverines’ offense will be their toughest task of the year. Denard Robinson is in his senior year, and is sure to go out a champion. He will do whatever it takes to get to the B1G 10 Championship and win it. No one is going to get in the way of the Wolverines. He has broken records all year, in probably every game so far, that I can remember, except maybe the Alabama game. He leads the team in passing and in rushing.

The keys to the game will be the defense though. Currently, Nebraska is a two point favorite over Michigan. Defense is huge, defense will determine the game.

Nebraska is the best running team in the B1G 10 right now, averaging 279 yards per game. Rex Burkhead is the main tailback for the Cornhuskers, but may not play because of an injury. Ameer Abdullah is the leading rusher right now, and could pose a threat to the Wolverines defense.

But, they held Le’Von Bell of the Spartans, the leading rusher in the B1G 10 to only 68 yards on 26 carries, his season worst. Even though the Wolverines didn’t score a touchdown in the last game against the Spartans, expect that not to continue this week.

The Wolverines should win this game, although it will be close, propelling them to a victory and one step closer to the B1G 10 Championship.
