On Tuesday, November 20, the Lady Wolves played host to conference opponent Lourdes College. They picked up their first win of the season against the Lady Gray Wolves, beating them 58-56. At the beginning of the game and often throughout, both teams seemed to be evenly matched.
The Lady Gray Wolves took the first shot early, and continued for most of the first half, finishing the first half with a 32-26 lead over the Lady Wolves.
The second half proved to be much of the same, but the Lady Wolves won the adjustment battle at halftime.
The Lady Wolves took better care of the ball, played smarter and in more control, and had more confidence throughout the second half.
The teams exchanged leads back and forth the entire second half until the Lady Wolves were up by two and junior forward Chelsea Davis picked up a rebound after two missed shots by Lourdes to give the Lady Wolves of University of Michigan-Dearborn the win.
The win was not only the first of the Lady Wolves season but it was a big one as it advanced them to a 1-1 record in conference play and helped them get into an eight team tie for third place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).
Davis led the way for the Lady Wolves while having a career night recording her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Andrea Collins contributed 11 points, five steals, and three assists, while sophomore center Jalissa Williams added 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Wolves next game is tonight, Monday, November 26, 2012, where they will travel to Rochester, Michigan to play the Lady Golden Grizzlies of Oakland University at 6:30 PM.
