Political Science Association will be hosting a speaker series focusing on individuals who have been born or raised in Michigan who have strived to support the state.

The series is called Made in Michigan, Stayed in Michigan.

The Series will begin this Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in 1030 CASL with Denise Ilitch, current University of Michigan Regent, Detroit area business person, and lawyer.

During the event, Ilitch will discuss the time she has spent growing up and working in the state of Michigan, and encourage students to give back to the state.

“I’m very excited that Ms. Ilitch is able to participate in our speaker series. She truly embodies the hard work and dedication that is needed in Michigan,” Dennis Lienhardt, PSA president said.

Ilitch is the former Vice President of Little Caesar Enterprises and the former President of Ilitch Holdings, which manages the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, Little Caesars, and the Fox Theater.

She is also the owner and publisher of Ambassador magazine.

Ilitch has spent much time working in Detroit as a past member of the Board of Directors for the Detroit Branch NAACP.

According to Lienhardt the next speaker in the Made in Michigan, Stayed in Michigan series is State Representative Rashida Tlaib, who will speak on April 1 at 5 p.m. in 1030 CASL.
