Riding a close win over Wheaton College two weekends ago, the Wolves lacrosse team traveled to Siena Heights University in Adrian this past weekend. They faced off against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in the final weekend of March.
Led by sophomore forward Dylan Hatcher’s seven goals, the Wolves defeated the Blue Devils, 12-9.
Right from the start, Lawrence Tech was down, with the score being 3-1 after the first quarter. At the half, the Wolves already had eight goals to the Blue Devils’ two.
Lawrence Tech clawed their way back in the third quarter, scoring four to make it a 9-6 game. That was as close as the Blue Devils would get to the lead, as the Wolves would score three more in the fourth quarter to put the game away, 12-9, despite three more from the Blue Devils in the fourth.
Helping out Hatcher’s seven goals, junior Kevin LaHaie with three goals, and seniors Dane Haskin and Marcus Lehr with a goal apiece.
The Wolves outshot the Blue Devils in each quarter except for the third. Overall, UM-D outshot Lawrence Tech, 51-31.
Scoring for the Blue Devils, juniors Bryan Burnham and Justin Killewald, and sophomore Justin Clark with two goals each. Sophomores Adam Franzel and Robert Melton along with freshmen Nick Folk and Nicholas Denney also scored for Lawrence Tech.
Next up for the Wolves, is Northwood University on Friday, April 5 at 7:00pm at Groves High School in Birmingham.
