Participants in the American Cancer Society’s 24 hour Relay for Life event are gearing up to fight against cancer at Crestwood High School’s football field, 1501 N. Beech Daly Road, on May 11.

The event will comprise 14 teams, altogether consisting of 101 participants. The teams include the Dearborn Heights Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and the Dewey Decimators team, among others. The teams have raised over $2,300 for Relay for Life.

The mission of the event is to help people get well and find cures to prevent and cure the disease and to create a world with “more birthdays and less cancer”.
