Senior volleyball player Nia Martin was named the Michigan Journal’s first University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week on September 17, 2013. Staff reporter Ryan Petras had the opportunity to talk with Martin about the honor in part of a question and answer series.

Q: How long have you played volleyball?

A: I started playing volleyball my freshmen year of high school. I had never picked up a volleyball before that so it was a totally new sport for me.

Q: Did you earn any awards individually or team based in high school?

A: I was awarded All Academic and All Tournament Team my senior year in high school.

Q: What are you majoring in?

A: I am studying Marketing in the College of Business.

Q: Besides volleyball, what are some of your hobbies or interest?

A: I enjoy being a part of marketing organizations and networking. I love vining to my favorite songs while reading a great book, when I get the time.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Fettuccine Alfredo

Q: What’s your favorite TV show?

A: Family Guy/ Walking Dead

Q: Any other sports you enjoy?

A: I enjoy track and basketball.
