As the season is coming to an end for the University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team, there is no question that they are improving.
One of the highest points of the season came last week when they won three out of four games at the Houghton College Tournament in New York.
Unfortunately they couldn’t carry that momentum going into the final stretch of the season.
Tuesday night, the team took on Marygrove Mustangs (19-14) on faculty appreciation night.
The first set saw the two teams fighting neck and neck to break a tiebreaker. The Wolverines were the one to break it winning the first set 30-28.
After the first set, the Mustangs took control. They swept the Wolverines in the final three sets, (25-21, 25-21, and 25-1).
The ladies then traveled out to St. Louis, Missouri to compete in the Washington University Tournament.
The first match had the Wolverines taking on the host team, No. 8 ranked Washington University Bears (25-5).
It was senior night for the highly ranked Bears as they took on UM-Dearborn. The Wolverines played well against the Bears, but lost in three sets by scores of 25-19, 26-24, and 25-11.
The next match for the Wolverines was against the Buffalo State Bengals (23-9).
The Bengals defeated the Wolverines in straight sets by scores of 26-24, 25-18, and 25-16.
The Wolverines ended the tournament by playing the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors.
They played a five-set thriller with the Warriors but eventually fell by scores of 25-18, 18-25, 19-25, 25-19, and 15-17.
The Wolverines, now 10-31 on the season have two games left on the season.
Senior night will be on November 6 against Aquinas College. The final game of the season will be played at Lawrence Tech on November 8.
