In an official email to students, University of Michigan-Dearborn has announced that it will be hiring for a new staff position.
A search committee has been formed to find a candidate for the new position of Director of Student Unions and Event Services. The new director will be charged with the consolidation of campus services for the Union, food services and events as well as overseeing the operations and accommodations of student unions on campus (i.e., University Center, Victors Den, etc.). Other duties will include handling University meeting and the special events team, as well as event coordination and the student Ambassador program.
Up till now, the search committee tasked with finding the Director has held two student open forums, which took place on March 4 and March 6. During this time, students were allowed to meet and speak with the candidates to both learn their history and qualifications as well as gain further insight into the responsibilities they will take on as director. Students were then offered the chance to make their voice heard by filling out a questionnaire sheet detailing their thoughts on the candidates.
While it is not yet known when this position will take effect, more information is expected as the committee continues its search.
