DEARBORN — In honor of winter sports coming to a close at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, four members of the Michigan Journal Sports staff cast their votes for the first edition of the MJ men’s basketball awards. Senior Dustin Sielski took home MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors after his leadership on the court led the Wolverines to eight wins this season.

“Dustin did all the little things you need to do to help your team win,” Wolverines head coach John Mackson said. “He was our leading rebounder and best defender and I am glad to see him recognized for that.”

Freshman Gage Throgmorton was honored with the Rising Star award after averaging 9.5 points per game this season.
