The Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) organization is a group of University of Michigan-Dearborn alumni who come together to welcome new graduates, plan events, and network.

GOLD was scheduled to have a meeting on April 16, but they are currently trying to push it to the week after to pair the meeting with a fundraiser for an alumna.

“The organization’s purpose is to represent the interests of recent graduates to the larger alumni community and the campus,” said Jason Davis, the chair of GOLD.

The group usually holds meetings on the third Wednesday of every month.

The GOLD board is consisted of UM-Dearborn alumni and their meetings are open for anyone interested. They will be discussing their Fourth Annual Recent Graduate Barbeque, which will be on May 17 at Ford Field. They will also discuss past events, a networking program, and plan future events for the spring/summer.

About the Recent Graduate Barbeque, Davis said, “It gives the new graduates an opportunity to bring their friends and family to a fun event, where they can meet other alumni and officially be welcomed into the alumni community.”

“We try to center our activities around 3 major components: professional development, networking, and socials. Alumni look for these types of activities, and the programs we host typically give us a chance to interact with students, and begin their interest in GOLD,” said Davis.

Other events that they hold include a Maize and Blue Bowl, which is a flag football game where alumni play against students, and bi-monthly socials.
