The University of Michigan-Dearborn women’s club soccer team will be hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, August 9 at Woodhaven Lanes (2000 Van Horn, Woodhaven, MI).
Check-in begins at 2:00 p.m. and the cost is $20 per person. This includes two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, and pop. Also at the alley will be a raffle and a bake sale.
The goal of the fundraiser is to raise money for the team to get uniforms, help for away-game transportation and to put towards a home soccer field.
“Because the team is rebuilding and it’s our first year in a league, we are looking to get new jerseys,” said second-year defender Jenna Mitchell.
The team did not have jerseys last season and had to use T-shirts instead.
The team also struggled with transportation for away games last season.
“We would like to get charter buses, but if that’s not possible we will do what we did last year, which is rent two or three vans,” said Mitchell.
UM-Dearborn doesn’t have an official home field. Currently, the team plays their home games at St. Tim’s in Trenton, Mich.
