For nearly all his life, Cody Bailey has dreamed of creating something that would have guests squirming and squealing, and last October, that dream became a scream-filled reality.

At 8 years old, Bailey was making haunted houses at campgrounds and his home. It was then that knew that at one point, owning his own haunted house would be in his future.

Bailey attempted, and ultimately failed, to start his own scaring business when the economy took its toll and put a halt to the plans. It wasn’t until last year when opportunity struck and Hush Haunted Attraction was born. Using the empty part of his parents’ car repair shop, Bailey, his friend Scott, and a team of young and daring risk takers set out to create a scare that would linger with visitors.

Obviously that risk was worth taking when Hush was voted Michigan’s Haunt of the Year by Horrorlust last fall.

As soon as the 2013 scaring season was over, the team got to work to create something even more horrifying. Bailey credits the dedication and bonds between the team behind the scares for successfully setting Hush apart from other haunts. Together they bring young and feisty leadership to the table to produce something utterly terrifying-and it is still only the beginning.

Hush is back and revamped for 2014. Expanded and completely redesigned, visitors can expect their fears to be played with and their emotions to be twisted.

“I want you to think about it when you get home,” said Bailey, noting he wants the experiences at his haunt to be more than just startles.

Oh, and guests will get to feel what it’s like being burned alive when they take a stroll through the incinerator, exclusive to the 2014 season. The design of the entire endeavor is impressive, even a look at the exterior and interior of the building is a prime example of the hard work and dedication that the Hush team has put into the attraction. A walk through an empty Hush building is enough to send chills down your spine. One can only imagine what is to come when the haunt is alive (well, dead) and full of the decrepit Hush team.

Thrill seekers can dare to experience Hush from now until Nov. 1 (see calendar for details).

Hush Haunted Attraction is located at 34043 Ford Road, Westland.
