Fordson guard Moe Zahr chooses Madonna over UM-Dearborn

By RICKY LINDSAY, Editor in Chief

The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s basketball team suffered a “home” loss on the recruiting trail Friday when Moe Zahr signed with Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference rival Madonna.

Zahr, a standout at Fordson (Dearborn, Mich.), held a UM-Dearborn offer, per The D Zone.

Madonna head coach Noel Emenhiser announced the signing on his Twitter page.

A deadly scorer, Zahr averaged 27.9 points last season and broke Fordson’s single-game and single-season points records.

According to Branden Hunter of MichiganPreps.com, he received interest from three teams, including NAIA Division-II national champion Cornerstone.

UM-Dearborn returns six guards this season and must find a way to replace senior Jamiel Strickland.
