Few times of the year bring quite as much charm and nostalgia as fall. The leaves are changing to glorious shades of crimson and orange, there’s a crisp breeze in the air, and pumpkin-spiced anything and everything is in great supply. It’s times like these that make one want to enjoy nature before winter covers everything in a fresh glazing of frost. Fond memories of Halloweens gone by drive us to take comfort in the familiar atmosphere of a pumpkin patch.
One of the many places to visit this time of year is DeBuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch in Belleville. It has many features for those of all ages. I visited specifically for the corn maze. It has three levels — easy, medium, and hard — which are marked by different colors of tape and all end up intersecting as you go along. Thus, how difficult you want it to be varies depending on the paths you take given by the map you receive before you begin. Clues are given throughout the maze that coincide with clues on the map. Consequently, it would actually be quite difficult to get lost. If you are looking for more of a challenge, it may not be the right fit for you. At the same time, I would still recommend it for an enjoyable and low-key outing. Additionally, if you are looking for some pumpkins to decorate for Halloween, there is a fantastic selection in the pumpkin patch.
There are so many sites to choose from to celebrate Halloween — haunted houses, movies theaters filled with eerie films, and costume parties — to name just a few. Still, few destinations are as wistful and bewitching as a pumpkin patch and corn maze. If you are looking for more of a gripping adventure, you may want to skip out on this one. On the other hand, if you are looking to spend a laid-back day with family or friends and relish in the time of fall, I’d encourage you to visit DeBuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch.
