The University of Michigan-Dearborn hockey team is heading to the ACHA national tournament for the first time since 2007. It is the 17th appearance for the Wolverines, who were runners up in 1992.

The tournament is hosted by Robert Morris Illinois and will be played at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Ill.

UM-Dearborn (18-4-4) earned the 13th seed in the tournament and will take on No. 20 Navy (18-16-1) in the opening round of the tournament on March 3 at 8 p.m. CST. The Wolverines opened its season on the road against Navy and swept the Midshipmen, winning 7-1 and 7-4.

Should the Wolverines beat Navy, they’ll take on No. 4 Central Oklahoma (25-7-2), the defending national champions, on March 4 at 8 p.m. CST. Former Wolverine Andrei Novikov, who played for the team last winter, plays for Central Oklahoma.

Three other GLCHL teams made the national tournament: No. 5 Davenport (29-2-1), No. 6 Adrian (23-3-3) and No. 17 Western Michigan (19-10-4).

Western Michigan will take on No. 16 Arizona (9-16-4) in the opening round on March 3. Adrian and Davenport will play its first games on March 5; Adrian will face No. 11 Oklahoma (19-9-5), while Davenport takes on host Robert Morris (18-13-4).
