The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team played three games this week all into additional sets, finishing the week with a win and two losses.

On Wednesday night, they traveled to Indiana Institute of Technology, losing in four sets (21-25, 20-25, 25-22, and 18-25).

Junior Katherine Nealy had 6 kills, 4 solo blocks, and 3 assisted blocks. Senior Bri Alspaugh had 4 kills, a service ace, 5 solo blocks and an assisted block.

The team then traveled to Concordia University in Ann Arbor on Friday night and lost the game 3-2 (25-23, 25-14, 23-25, 24-26, and 14-16). They took an early two-game lead but lost the remaining three games.

These games were all close with contributions from the whole team. Senior Shayla Smalls led the team with 18 kills, an assist, and a blocking assist. Junior Erin Parrinello added 9 kills, an assist, a solo block and 4 blocking assists.

The final game this week saw the Wolverines traveling to Rochester College. This was a Saturday afternoon matchup won by the Wolverines 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 25-10, 19-25, and 15-11).

This contest was settled in a tie breaker set with the Wolverines the winner. Senior Shayla Smalls had 23 kills in this contest. Junior Erin Parrinello added 13 kills, a service ace, and 2 assisted blocks.

This gives the volleyball team a record of 4-5 overall and a 1-2 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

The team’s next game is at home at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. They will take on No. 22 Madonna University.
