The men’s soccer team was outshot by the Marygrove Mustangs in the conference opener of the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference at Marygrove College in Detroit, MI. Marygrove won the game 3-0.

The Mustangs had 17 shots on the day with 9 shots on goal. Marygrove’s Gbenga Mike Ayanwale scored the first goal of the day which turned out to be the game winner also. He scored 2 goals on the day for the Mustang’s.

The Wolverine men made their presence felt during this game recording 7 shots on the day with 6 of them on goal. Junior Goalkeeper Dylon DaSilva made 4 saves out of the 9 shots he faced.

Senior Ali Anani had 3 shots during the game all of them on goal. Freshman Tanner Wallace also had 2 shots on the day with both being on goal.

Marygrove had 4 corner kicks and Michigan Dearborn had 1. The Wolverines had 5 fouls to Marygrove’s 8.

The Wolverines are now 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. The season is still early and the Wolverines have time to make up some ground this season.

The men travel to play Indiana Institute of Technology on Wednesday at 7 p.m. They then have a home game at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Concordia University.
