They didn’t want me to have an article about DJ Khaled, so I wrote an article about DJ Khaled.

If you did not get that reference, you for sure need to read about one of the most relevant DJ’s of our time, DJ Khaled.

The 41 year old DJ has released 10 studio albums throughout his career. Just about dropping an album each year starting in 2006 with, Listennn… The Album, and his two most recent, Major Key released in June of 2016 and Grateful which dropped this past June. Both debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.

The second single released from Grateful was “I’m The One” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne. The track debuted at number one and was Khaled’s first number one single on the Billboard 100. There is no question why this song did so well. The catchy chorus of Justin Beiber’s voice and big verses by some of the hottest names in hip-hop lead the track to go 4x platinum in the U.S.

Aside from producing, the “larger-than-life” personality that Khaled possesses has gained him much internet popularity. He is infamous for blasting Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram feeds with posts and videos. In 2015 he gained popularity on Snapchat by snapping his “keys to success” to followers. On October 23, 2016 he documented the birth of his son, Asahd Tuck Khaled, to the world as well. His Snapchat followers see Asahd daily. Khaled snaps videos of his son dancing to music, playing or he and his son just hanging out.

Asahd is credited as executive producer on Grateful. Khaled tells Jimmy Kimmel that he was in the studio with him going over songs, beats and vocals, “everything he’s apart of,” Khaled explains. When Asahd shakes and smiles when listening to a track, that means they’ve made a hit record, and when he looks deep in thought they’ve made a more serious record, but a good one.

DJ Khaled has been in the game for years and gaining more popularity as the years go on, after the major success his last album, and the fact that he makes himself so relevant in the media today, it’ll be interesting to see what this hype man brings us next.
