Fresh off a big race in East Lansing a week prior, the University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville on Saturday.
The race was one of the largest in the country, and was easily the largest stage for the Wolverine runners this season.
On the women’s side, UM-Dearborn participated in the College Silver race and finished 17th out of 38 participating teams.
Three Wolverines finished in the top 100 in the 5K race.
Megan Seccombe was the fastest Wolverine on the women’s side in the 5K race, placing 35th out of 269 total competitors with a time of 20:07.83.
Kayla Dela Cruz finished 80th at 20:53.76, while Julia Cercone placed 99th at 21:07.54.
Victoria Hebda placed 152nd, Israa Ali placed 159th, Camryn Zurawski finished 196th and Brogan Westra placed 212th.
The men’s team was led by freshmen Joshua Mussen and Joshua Williams, as the squad finished 22nd out of 45 participating teams.
Mussen finished 48th out of over 300 runners in the men’s 8K with a finish time of 27:27.89. Williams was close behind at 27:48.19, which was good for 76th.
Senior captain Sean Nowak finished in the top 100 at 91st with a 28:05.22 finish.
Nathan Wilson finished in 130th, Henry Robertson took 148th, Frank Lafave took 151st and Andrew Kohn finished in 185th.
The Jayhawk Invite on Friday, Oct. 13 will be the next race for the teams and will be held in Muskegon, Mich.
