Lyceum, the University of Michigan-Dearborn fine arts and literary journal, will be accepting submissions until October 13th at 11:59pm. Once all of the submissions are compiled, the journal will be printed and available for distribution on December 7th.
Lyceum accepts both written and digital content into print, however submitted videos and music will only be featured online. Kristen Bailey, the Editor in Chief of Lyceum, strongly encourages any and all artists to submit their work. “The selection process for our journals is anonymous,” Bailey said, “And we love receiving work from new artists!”
Bailey says there are many benefits to submitting your work beyond just appearing in Lyceum. “Not only is having published work an awesome resume builder, but it also allows artists to earn the rights to their work and be a part of a community that fosters the necessity of expression and imagination.
“In recent years, schools have cut creative programs in order to save money—but art is an important aspect in our culture and community,” Bailey says. “Lyceum wants to promote that creative culture on our campus and see the incredible talent of students, alumni, and staff.”
For students interested in submitting but want to polish their work a bit more before submitting can email firstname.lastname@example.org for a staff member’s opinion and feedback.
