The UM-Dearborn men’s basketball team continued their exhibition season as they traveled to Detroit to take on the NCAA University of Detroit Mercy Titans. The Wolverines lost 105-82 at Calihan Hall.
The Wolverines played from behind all game but made the score close at halftime only down 49-41. The Wolverines would slowly lose ground throughout the game and in the second half the Titans pulled away. The Titans might and skill showed through as they defeated the Wolverines.
The Titans leading scorer was Kameron Chatman who scored 17 points, including two 3-pointers, seven rebounds, and a block. Jaleel Hogan came off the bench to add 14 points, and three rebounds.
Jason Penn (SR/ Detroit, Michigan) had a dominant performance scoring 24 points including making four of five from the free throw line. Penn also had seven rebounds, three huge blocks, a steal, and an assist.
Ashton Curd (SR/Detroit, Michigan) was a force during the game scoring 13 points including making three from 3-point range. Curd also added two rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
Jason Gigliotti (FR/ Hartland, Michigan) saw 20 minutes of action and he scored eight points including two of two from the free throw line. Gigliotti also led the team with 10 rebounds, and three blocks.
The Wolverines return home Saturday at 3pm to the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse as they welcome Lourdes University.
