The UM-Dearborn women’s basketball team played two WHAC (Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference) games this week and failed to win either game.

They first played on Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse as they welcomed in the Warriors of Indiana Tech. The Warriors dominated the game and won 76-43.

The Warriors got out to an early lead in the first quarter, scoring 25 points to the Wolverines eight. The Wolverines picked up the pace and they tried to close the gap, but just couldn’t overcome the early deficit.

The Wolverines were led by sophomore Jeorgia Jones who scored 13 points. She also had eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.

Junior Natalie Spala added seven points, three rebounds, and a block. Seniors Meredith Williams and Megan Swick each chipped in six points.

The Warriors were led by Haley Cook with 25 points and Keanna Gary with 24 points.

The Wolverines also saw action on Saturday as they traveled to Grand Rapids to take on the Saints of Aquinas College.

The Wolverines found themselves down 35-18 at halftime. They would not overcome the Saints in the second half, eventually losing 69-46.

Megan Swick led the team with 16 points in the second half, including hitting four from 3-point range. She also had three steals, an assist, and a rebound. Natalie Spala finished the first half with 13 points including her perfect 3 of 3 from downtown. She also had four rebounds, a block, and an assist.

Jeorgia Jones had a double-double as she scored 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jones also added three assists, and a steal.

The Saints were led by Michaela Faber who scored 13 points.

The Wolverines with the week’s losses fall to 6-20 overall and 1-16 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines will travel to Northwestern Ohio University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. This will be their final road game of the season. The Wolverines will also play Madonna University at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
