Whether you’re single or wifed up for Valentine’s Day, having a feels playlist is something that is needed.
As much as some of us don’t want to admit it, we all have a soft spot for love–in this case, love songs. I don’t care if you dread the day or if you’re looking forward to spending it with that special someone, Valentine’s day is a day to listen to sappy love songs.
“LOVE.” – Kendrick Lamar
When King Kenny dropped “DAMN.” this track played on repeat for weeks and is still a jam. “I wanna be with you aye I wanna be with you,” this is the number one pick for a V-Day playlist.
“ROS” – Mac Miller
This is one of my favorite songs from “GO:OD AM.” While you’re rocking with Mac, add on all the songs from “The Divine Feminine,” it’ll hit all the Valentine’s Day feels.
“Best Part” “We Find Love” and “Get you” – Daniel Caesar
Grab last week’s edition of The Michigan Journal to see my Artist Attention on Caesar, these R&B tracks are ideal for the playlist.
“Every Kind of Way” – H.E.R
This soulful artist sings you into pure bliss with this track.
“You Can Count On Me” – Ansel Elgort
Yes, you read that right, Ansel Elgort. He sings too. This song is a love letter to that special someone and includes a verse from Logic that we can only assume is for his wife.
“Psycho, Pt. 2” “Ain’t Nobody Takin My Baby” and “Wife You Up” – Russ
Russ can rap about more than himself and his success, he also drops some beautiful tracks that make you think of that one person and bring a smile to your face.
“Xo” – Beyonce
This is one of my favorite Beyonce songs and one that fits the criteria of a perfect V-Day anthem.
“Perfect” – Dave East
No, not the Ed Sheeran “Perfect,” but you can add that if you want to. This might be a stretch for a feels playlist, but Dave East and Chris Brown team up to tell women they are perfect and it’s a solid song.
“Anyone Else” – Mike Stud
How could this song not make the cut? Definitely what everyone wants to hear from their significant other.
“Molly” – Lil Dicky
I heard this song around this time last year, so it’s making it on the playlist because Lil Dicky is confessing his love for someone he cannot have. The chorus is Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco and pulls the verses together perfectly.
“Best I Ever Had” “Marvin’s Room” “Doing It Wrong” “The Real Her” and “With You” – Drake
You can’t have a feels playlist without Drake on it. There are too many to list, but these are just a few making the cut.
“I Fall Apart” – Post Malone
I guess while we’re patiently waiting for Mr. Post to drop BB&B, we can actually fall apart when this track comes through our speakers. Not the typical love song, but definitely one to be heard for the day.
“First Take” – Travis Scott
First of all, congrats to the new Dad, but second, this is one of my favorites from “Birds in the Trap Sing Mcknight.” Partly because of Bryson Tiller’s verse.
“Been That Way” “Exchange” “Let Em’ Know” and “Don’t” – Bryson Tiller
Speaking of Tiller, he has a way with words when making you think about someone special.
“Heartless” – Kanye West
Anyone mending a broken heart, this one’s for you.
“Mad” and “Miss Independent” – Ne-Yo
Middle school heartbreaks, “Mad” was the anthem and “Miss Independent” helped you remember your worth.
“With You” – Chris Brown
Classic Chris Brown.
“Burn” “My Boo” “U Got It Bad” and “You Make Me Wanna” – Usher
Throwing it way back with these Usher classics, I think they are deserving of the list.
“Suga Suga” – Baby Bash
Play this song when your significant other gets in the car and you’re setting yourself up for a good night.
“We Belong Together” – Mariah Carey
If this track doesn’t scream Valentine’s day I don’t know what does.
“Juke Jam” – Chance the Rapper
For anyone who remembers the oh-so-awkward middle school group dates at a skate rink, this song puts a more mature twist on that. Chance and Justin Bieber softly sing you into nostalgia.
“Crooked Smile” – J. Cole
This makes the list because if you don’t have that special someone, you still deserve to hear how special YOU are.
“When We Love” “Moments” and “While Were Young” – Jhene Aiko
Jhene Aiko took us on a real life trip with this album, and Jhene’s gentle voice on these tracks make them just right for the playlist. The track with boyfriend Big Sean is my favorite out of the three.
“3005” – Childish Gambino
No matter what he says or what he does, this song will always be a classic in my eyes.
“While You Count Sheep” – Jon Bellion
He sounded like he had a blast making this song and to say it is cute is an understatement. It’ll put a smile on your face and think of the one who you’d write a song to sing to sleep (if you could sing).
“Nobody Else But You” – Trey Songz
Blast this song for your one and only or blast it to remind yourself that you’re awesome and who wouldn’t want you?
I hope these songs are up to your standards. If so, you can find the playlist on Apple Music on the link below.
