It’s the spookiest time of the year, and haunted houses have finally opened their doors. There are many haunted houses scattered across the state that hold terrifying corn mazes, eerie hayrides and frightening warehouses. 

But what are some of the best ones that are worth the money, drive, and time waiting in line in the cold? I came up with a list of the top five haunted attractions that’ll definitely give you chills and some good scares!

  1. The Scream Machine – Taylor, MI

The Scream Machine feeds off of your deepest fears as you follow the hallways of the dark asylum where resident Dr. Stratch lies. This attraction not only features the asylum, but also has two optional five minute escape rooms!

Cost: $18

  1. Scarefest Scream Park – Lenox, MI

The Scream Park is located in a secluded woodland with four different attractions, from family-friendly frights to intense scare factors. Besides all of the haunts, there’s also a huge bonfire pit, outdoor scary movies, a beer tent, food and live music.

Cost: $15 – $45

  1. Azra Chamber of Horrors Haunted House – Madison Heights, MI

Making it’s horror debut last year, Azra Chamber of Horrors was rated the #1 Haunt in Michigan in 2018 by Azra has multiple floors with different haunts and a frightening maze. This attraction was also rated in the top 20 list of haunted attractions in Michigan from Scare Factor. Azra is also located right next door to Escape Room Zone.

Cost: $20 – $25

  1. Hush Haunted Attraction – Westland, MI

Featured on NBC, Detroit Metro Times and on USA’s Greatest Haunts List is Hush, located in an old skating rink in Westland. There are three different attractions inside, with the Descent in an old miners cave, the Coven where you’re trapped inside a witch’s coven and Rosecliff Hall where you enter a haunted family home. Hush also has lights-out nights where the lights are all out and you can only use a single glow stick to find your way out.

Cost: $25 – $28

  1. Erebus – Pontiac, MI

Rated the best haunted attraction the country from USA Today’s Readers’ Choice 2019 is Erebus in Pontiac. This haunted attraction has been scaring visitors since the first day they opened in 2000. This four story, half-mile walk haunt includes trap doors, narrow hallways, animatronics and a bottomless pit. If you make it to the end, you’ll also see their scoreboard marking those who have either fainted or wet their pants. If this sounds like too much for you, they’ve also introduced the Erebus Escape Room.
