Earlier this month, country heartthrobs Dan + Shay announced their biggest tour yet. “The (Arena) Tour” is simply that–the duo’s first ever tour playing larger arenas. While the two have played smaller local venues such as Royal Oak Music Theatre in the past, this tour will be their first time playing Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and will be a great opportunity to reach even more fans as their fanbase continues to grow rapidly. The (Arena) Tour will start in March and tickets are currently on sale.
The announcement follows the release of their latest song “10,000 Hours,” which features pop phenomenon Justin Bieber and is the sweetest love ballad the internet never saw coming but desperately needed. The release of the single sent fans of both into a frenzy.
The video features guest appearances from the three guys’ significant others: Hannah (Shay), Abby (Dan), and Hailey (Justin). It’s safe to say it’s that kind of love song. It makes you want to spend forever (or 10,000 hours at least) in eternal bliss with a soulmate that you don’t even have yet, but it’s the kind of song that makes you want to dream of one and not throw up when you see couples on Valentine’s Day.
Whether you love or hate the notion of a mushy love song, the universe seems to love it. Within the first week, the single topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs list at #1 and the Hot 100 at #4 and had been streamed globally 75 million times–a number that undoubtedly has grown since.
While Dan + Shay continue to expand their reach and break boundaries, the dynamic duo aren’t the first to collaborate with artists across other genres. This year has been the year of country-pop music crossovers. Country artists like Maren Morris, Florida-Georgia Line, Chris Stapleton, and Kane Brown, to name a few, have all been featured on tracks that one would traditionally jam along to on pop radio. Maybe Dan + Shay aren’t the first, but they definitely dropped the mic with “10,000 Hours,” not only absolutely killing it as they’ve proven with every song they release, but they brought out the big guns with a Justin Bieber feature.
And while we never thought we’d see the day the Biebs goes country, all of the pop-country collaborations of 2019 paved the way for us to get a song out of these three guys that makes us absolutely swoon. Not a single complaint on our end.
