The No. 3 University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s hockey team took on Lawrence Tech University on Friday. The Wolverines continued their previous success and steamrolled the Blue Devils, 5-1. 

Senior forward Nic LaBurn got the scoring parade started for Michigan with a goal late in the first period, giving UM-Dearborn a 1-0 lead. Fellow senior forward Justin Dunn extended the lead for UM-Dearborn with a power play goal in the second period. 

After giving up a goal, sophomore Mathieu LaForest scored to extend the Maize and Blue’s lead back to two. The game went into the second intermission with UM-Dearborn leading Lawrence Tech, 3-1. 

The Wolverines refused to take their foot off the gas in the third period. Junior defensemen John Ames notched a goal making the score 4-1. Minutes later, freshman forward Anthony Davis added to the total and extended the lead to 5-1. 

Five-time reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Thomas Proudlock was great in goal once again. The senior goaltender made 20 saves, helping the Wolverines claim victory over Lawrence Tech. 

UM-Dearborn improved their record on the season with the win (9-1-1, WHAC 6-1-0), while Lawrence Tech fell to (7-4-0). The Wolverines will take on Cleary University on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Hartland, Michigan with a chance to extend their five game winning streak.
