The UM-Dearborn men’s and women’s bowling teams each had historic outings last weekend at two American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference events in Pittsburgh, PA.
The men’s team finished 11th out of 15 teams, but placed sixth on day two of the events. They were led by sophomore Mark Bilancetti, who finished third individually with 821 total pins and an average 205.25.
Bilancetti was named the WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) Men’s Bowler of the Week. The award was the first for the sophomore and the first in program history.
As impressive as the men’s team performed, the women played just as well. The team placed ninth out of 15 teams as Amanda Williams led the charge for the team. The freshman finished 18th individually and had 854 total pins with an average of 170.8.
Williams was awarded the WHAC Women’s Bowler of the Week award for her efforts. Like Bilancetti, it was the first such acknowledgement of her career and the first for the program.
The impressive week is the best in the history of both programs and will likely propel them to an even more prosperous future.
