It starts out like any other American Eagle Outfitters ad. Good-looking young people sport the company’s latest trends while they pursue their dreams. “I like skinny jeans. Sometimes, they’re not skinny enough.” Actors show off the new American Eagle skinny-skinny jeans that are apparently sold in a can and can be purchased for men or women in bright light and indigo. If you look closely, you’ll see that the actors aren’t wearing any pants at all. The jeans are painted onto their bodies.
Vice President of Brand marketing for American eagle, Bob Holobinko said, “We wanted to have fun with our fans,” during an interview on the Today Show on Friday. “And the response has been incredible.” And it has been. The companies YouTube ad went viral as of Friday morning.
A link under the video redirects viewers to the American Eagle website where they can “purchase” the new skinny-skinny jeans. “Our skinniest skinny jeans ever. Lookin’ tight,” reads the ad on their website. The spoof eventually ends when customers attempt to purchase the spray jeans and a prompt pops up saying that the jeans are sold out. It then request that you enter your email address below to get information on when they are back in stock.
The ad definitely generated some attention in a way that was funny and appealing to consumers. After all, you are redirected to their site, may enter your email address and are more likely to shop when you receive promotions from the label. Holobinko said there might be more ads to come in the near future. “We think of it as a journey,” he said. “So this is the first installment.”

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has announced their nominees and honorees for the 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards and boy are they beautiful. Familiar designers will be rocking a red carpet of their own on June 3rd at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in NYC.
Not so unfamiliar with the CFDA Awards are Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler who are all up for the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award while Alexander scores another nominee for Accessory Designer of the Year.
The only disappointment that seems to have sprung from the announcement is that CFDA has chosen to leave out the Fashion Icon of the Year honoree this year. Although not presented every year, in the past celebrity icons Lady Gaga, Kate Moss and Johnny Depp have received the award.
Oscar de la Renta will be presented with the Founders Award and one of my favorite four time CFDA winners, Vera Wang, will be given the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards will be broadcast exclusively on Style.com June 4th, one day after the award ceremony. So mark your calendars my fellow fashionista’s. It will be a night to remember.

Bold, blonde and beautiful, Rita Ora, Jay-Z’s latest protégé, hardly ever goes unnoticed. After wowing the UK with her music charm and sassy style, Rita Ora is rapidly making her way into the hearts of Americans everywhere.
Fashion’s newest muse, Ora has been rocking red carpets in Marchesa, Stephane Rolland Couture, Emilio Pucci, Alexander McQueen and countless others.
The Red Carpet isn’t the only place that Ora shows off her fashion forward attitude. Somehow, her signature matte red lipstick and bulky gold jewelry has won the hearts of so many.

It’s a new year and in honor of fresh starts and clean slates, I decided that I would dedicate my first column of the semester to helping people start the New Year on the right foot. As of late, I can’t help but notice how many people buy things they cannot afford and sadly, did not earn.
I hate to be judgmental because it’s not my style, but in all honesty, how many girls do you know in their twenties who can truly afford to buy a pair of $1500 Christian Louboutin’s or a $5000 Chanel bag? I’m all about labels, and if I could afford to splurge in that sense, I would be the first one doing it. I will not lie about that.

Besides the gifts, food, family, friends and wonderful music, picking out my ensembles for parties and dinners is probably my favorite thing about the holiday season.
Stores are stocked with pretty dresses and sweaters and there is always something you can find that screams Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s Eve or any other holiday that you are celebrating!
Although I don’t celebrate Christmas on a religious level, I always take advantage of gifts and use the holiday to bust out with some hot outfits that show off my closet. I LOVE the color red more than any other color in the world. I especially love red lipstick and have been known to wear it more often than not.

The night of Thanksgiving, after we chow down on turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, pumpkin pie and just about every other food you could possibly think of, we prepare. We prepare for the biggest sales event in the history of mankind.
We slip on our most comfortable clothes and shoes and if you’re from Michigan, coats and hats are likely necessities. It is the only time that Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” is allowed to be played in anyone’s car EVER!
It is the day that I will be required to purchase massive amounts of hangers and I will witness a stampede of soccer moms attack one another outside of department stores. It is Black Friday and it’s coming to EVERY store near you.
First Ladies have always found ways to incorporate fashion into the serious world of politics.

From Martha Washington to Michelle Obama, the First Ladies of this country have always found a way to incorporate fashion into the oh so serious world of politics. Trend-setting first ladies have always influenced women across America and some of them will be remembered as fashion icons forever.
Until Michelle Obama broke through the fashion walls as of recently by strutting around in affordable pieces, Jackie Kennedy was probably one of the most innovative first ladies when it comes to bringing fashion into the White House. Although her love of high fashion was not as easy for everyday American women to emulate, her simplistic and classy way of putting together her wardrobe was.
There is a way to stay fashionable when wearing sweat pants, leggings, hoodies and Uggs.

Some people think that it goes against the laws of nature to wear sweat pants/sweaters to school because it is unprofessional. To those people I say, “Off with your head!”
Come on. Let’s get real for one second. Waking up at eight in the morning to come to class is already a task in itself. Even though college is preparing us for our “professional” careers, we are not professionals just yet! This is our last hoorah so why not celebrate the right way? Comfortably.
What I am suggesting is that there is a way to stay fashionable when wearing sweat pants, leggings, hoodies, Uggs, etc. I think the most important thing to remember when dressing down and bumming out is sports. It’s football season and it just so happens that the Detroit Tigers are going to the World Series for the first time since 2006! Go Tigers! In any case, sports are the perfect excuse to dress down.
