Friends of the Rouge, a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to preserving the Rouge River, will be offering classes to property owners along the riverfront dealing with safety procedures in case of flooding.
On May 13 of this year, 27 year old University of Michigan-Dearborn student Xianru Du went missing after being last seen in the Rouge River near Fair Lane Drive and Evergreen Roads.
UM -Dearborn students Ryan Keeling, Mitch Dziekan, Andrew Kelly, Kelly Kobberstad, and Chad Rhodes of the Geospatial Analysis and Mapping Certificate Program are investigating the Rouge River by comparing the current stream with how it looked in 1949.
The Friends of the Rouge, a non-profit organization, raises awareness about the need to clean up the river in Southeast Michigan. It promotes stewardship and restoration of the river.
