After waiting for chance, Gardner shines as Michigan’s man

The following week against Minnesota, Gardner finally got his chance. He returned under center as starter for the first time since his senior year of high school and didn’t miss a beat. The Wolverines went 3-2 with Gardner as their quarterback in their final five games of the season — hope was in the air.

The offseason arrived, and so did Gardner’s first experience as Michigan’s leader. He did it all, from participating in the Manning passing camp to working out with quarterback guru George Whitfield Jr.

Towards the end of the game, the number that everyone was waiting for was announced throughout the stadium. Michigan wound up breaking the NCAA’s all-time attendance mark with 115,109. The large crowd played a factor in the game throughout the night, helping Michigan rack up win No. 400 at the Big House.
