The men’s and women’s basketball teams of the University of Michigan-Dearborn have earned spots in the playoff pictures in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference this week.

The women’s team has been on fire all season and will play on Wednesday night at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse as they host their first ever home playoff game against the Warriors of Rochester College at 7 p.m. The Wolverines have been tearing up the court and have a 24-6 overall record and a 15-5 WHAC record.

The teams have met twice this season with each team winning at home. The Wolverines won 59-53 on December 8 and the Warriors won 64-61 on January 12. This will be the tie breaker for the season and so much more with the playoffs on the line for both teams. The Wolverines are the No. 3 seed in the tournament and the Warriors are the No. 6 seed with an overall record of 18-12 and a WHAC record of 12-8.

This will be a no pass event and the first 100 UM-Dearborn students will be free. The price otherwise is $7 for adults, $5 for students, $5 for seniors over the age of 60 and free for anyone under the age of eight.

The men’s team has also earned the right to a playoff berth as they come in at the No. 8 seed and will face a tough challenge as they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan on Thursday night to take on the No. 1 seeded Golden Eagles of Cornerstone. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

The Wolverines are 11-19 overall and 8-12 in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles are the No. 8 team in the country and have an overall record of 23-7, 16-4 in the WHAC. Just like the women’s team, the men won 67-66 at their home game on January 9 and lost 87-68 at their away game on February 6.

This game will also be the tie breaker for them and the Wolverines are firing on all basis of the court and playing great basketball. They will need to as they face the red-hot Golden Eagles who are 12-0 at home. The Wolverines are riding a three-game win streak. It will definitely be a game for the ages as these titans square off.
